We currently have six active bat survey stations throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan and four mobile bat detectors on the High Line. These surveys are comparing bat activity across a wide variety of locations to help us understand what habitats are most valuable to urban bats. This page is a work in progress, we are hoping to share results from these survey stations as they become available through this map. Check back soon!

How Do We Survey for Bats?
Our bat surveys are conducted using acoustic bat detectors. These devices remain in the field throughout the summer and record bats' sonar as they fly by. We can then use these recordings to roughly assess what bat activity and biodiversity are like for a specific location.
